ChangeAgent's post tonight made me jealous, so I wanted to start a similar question here.
What games are you excited about that are coming out this year? The announcements are just starting and they will be ramping up as we get through E3 in a month, but there are already some pretty awesome games on the horizon. What are some of your favorites?
Some of my favorites that I'm most excited about right now:
1. Beatles: Rock Band - This game should be more than awesome..it should be amazing :P I'm a huge fan of all the Harmonix music games (specifically the Band games) and I can't wait to rock out Beatles style. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this game at E3!
2. Modern Warfare 2 - This is the follow up to Call of Duty 4, a game that was one of the best FPS's that has come out in a long time. Great multiplayer, fantastic storyline/singleplayer. Infinity Ward won't let us down with this one.
3. Battlefield 1943 - This game sounds pretty fun, a revamped version of Battlefield 1942 and it's only ~$20 or so. Should be well worth it.
Some other games: Bioshock 2, Singularity, DJ Hero... as well as some others I'm sure I'm missing :P
So, what are you looking forward to?
Also looking forward to Bioshock 2, Uncharted 2 (Although I really want Naughty Dog to finish the story of the Jak & Daxter) Prototype, Singularity, and others.
On the handheld side of things, there's a new Mario & Luigi game coming, two different Kingdom Hearts games, a new DS Zelda game. There are probably dozens I've missed, but I'm certain others will fill in the gaps.
After last year, I'm kind of reserved this year about the games on offer. That said, the little shameless fanboy in me is looking forward to Ghostbusters. Terminator: Salvation is due out over a week before my birthday, and after seeing the gameplay vids, I think I'll be dropping hints from now till then.
Max Payne 3 If it doesn't get set back, just to catch up with the old homicidal nut-job. Batman: Arkham Asylum, maybe... I hear a lot of good buzz about it, but I want to see what's in it first.
The big one thought is Jumpgate Evolution with MA. We're all old Wing Commander players, so as you can imagine, they've offered us the video game equivalent of Crack-Cocaine. If it doesn't slip to next year, then you call be
After that, there's really only the Fallout 3 Expansion packs for the pc (Operation Anchorage & The Pitt in one expansion). That's pretty much it for now.
Jumpgate Evolution
Red Faction: Guerilla (PC)
Ghostbusters (PC) to relive my youth
Hearts of Iron III
Merely Interested:
Battlestations Pacific
Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships
Mount & Blade: Warband
Bioshock 2
Recused:
Dragon Age: Origins (from my coworkers)
Bioshock 2
Overlord 2
The only non-sequel is Bayonetta
and perhaps Brutal Legend (if it can stick to its hype, but what ever does?)
... would say Final Fantasy XIII but we won't see that until '010.
Its odd that this list isn't huge... but it seems like a pretty weak year.
Oh and all 360 of course, I've paid no attention to whats coming out on any other.... wow... Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 if they show up this year... almost forgot... ok list is PC and 360 =P but I've not paid attention to stuff on other consoles coming this year.
Star Wars: Old Republic
I'm mildly interested in DC Universe Online, and Jumpgate, AION.
I'm currently playing Warhammer Online, but the leveling is boring, the gear acquisition process is a total grind (random token drops or pve dungeons with lockouts) so if anything remotely entertaining got released in the near future I'd drop it like a rock.
PC: Dragon Age, Some MMO's Dropping, and see what Challenge Games makes for the Web.
Xbox 360: MTG, Halo 3:ODST, Moder Warfare 2, lots of arcade games.
DS: Puzzle Kingdoms
Otherwise The Saboteur seems like a really exciting title. I love the overall look of that game. It also seems like a good stealth action title. I just hope they get the "stealth" part right. Otherwise I can't help but to draw parallels with this and Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds in the look and feel of the game.
I'm also looking at Red Faction: Guerilla, Dante's Inferno, Dirt 2, and I want to see if Bioshock 2 is going to be absolute fail or just "meh."
1) Brutal Legend
I have been waiting for this since LAST year and have been a long time fan of Mr. Schafer since Grim Fandango.
2) LEGO Rock Band
Just because it will have Blur Song 2 on it and it is silly enough to be incredibly successful.
3) Rock Band: Beatles
My feeling is the songs are much more challenging than they are leading on.
Also looking forward to Guild Wars 2, Diablo III, and any Midnight Club DLC.
I remember Blizzard said that D3 will come out after Starcraft 2's first game..so I'm guessing D3 will be in 2010 (unfortunately), but Diablo 3 looks awesome and was pretty fun when I got to play the Sorceror class at Blizzcon last year.
I agree with @Revlazaro about OnLive, that system is something I'm very interested in and I'm sure it will shake some things up when it launches later this year.
Infamous, Batman Arkham Asylum, Prototype, Assassin's Creed 2, Modern Warfare 2, Mass Effect 2 (hopefully out this year), and Red Faction.

Otherwise, nothing really interests me this year..
BioShock 2
Dragon Age
Arkham Asylum
Didn't bother with untranslated AION, playing the "raw" is like watching bad pirates. No offense to jonny depp xD
That said, Champions Online looks kind of fun, and Jumpgate Evolution will give me an excuse to dig the fancy joystick I bought for Jump to Lightspeed out of my closet. Hope it still works!
possibly awesome: FUEL, Backbreaker, Fight Night: Round 4, The Saboteur, Prototype, The Agency, Bloodbowl
And there are plenty of other good ones on the way this year. This year will be as good or better than last year in terms of games.
DiRT 2
Bioshock 2
Modern Warfare 2, and Starcraft II, but i don't think it'll be this year.
Red Faction Guerrilla
Alan Wake
MAG
Infamous

Those are on my 'must buy no matter what' list. :)
Red Faction Guerrilla (must have!)

I hope this game will be out this year!
